Dr. Kaufman has worked extensively with the United Nations - in New York, Paris, Geneva, Rome, Florence, Santo Domingo, and Kathmandu - as well as with a number of national, state, provincial, and municipal governments, and a number of international non-governmental organizations, including the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Save the Children, and Womankind International.
He provides a variety of services:
- Talks to conferences and meetings, as well as in-house workshops, on a range of topics.
- Men and Women: Working Together for Change
Between women and men, the rules have changed, but there is no new rule book. This talk or workshop addresses mis-communication, confusion, fear, and anger. We discover how organizations can improve their productivity and effectiveness by addressing gender issues at the workplace. We see how both women and men will benefit from change and how we can work together as allies.
- Ending Sexual Harassment
Let's get beyond the misunderstandings. This workshop for men or mixed groups creates an environment where men - young and old - can drop any defensiveness and work alongside women to learn about the costs of sexual harassment for women, for the work and school environments, and for men. Most importantly, it helps women and men learn to identify the problem and find practical solutions for change.
- We Can End Violence!
Women face a terrible situation in some countries, on a daily basis experiencing a type of terrorism directed at them specifically as women. But the problems of physical, sexual, and emotional violence effect women right around the world. This talk analyzes the root causes of this violence and charts an optimistic pathway for women and men to work together to end the violence.
- Creating Work/Life Balance
The demands of work life are out of sync with changing demographic realities and changing aspirations of both women and men. Women and many men find it near impossible to balance the demands of family life with work responsibilities. This talk or workshop charts the nature of the problem, explores mechanisms to create better balance, and looks at how organizations will benefit from change.
- Individual Gender Sensitivity Coaching to those who have been found responsible for sexual harassment at the workplace, in order to find positive ways to respond to a challenge most organizations now face.
- Strategic Programming to End Men's Violence
- Consulting, Writing, Research
- Consultation and assessment on internal gender relations.
- Consultation services on programmatic aspects of gender relations in the public work of organizations.
