Gender Sensitivity Coaching

Michael Kaufman is the lead designer and facilitator of Charles Novogrodsky and Associates' Gender Sensitivity Coaching for Men, and Harassment Prevention/Strengthening the Workplace training programs.

Sexual harassment, poisoned work environments, and an inability to fully and respectfully integrate women are growing problems in workplaces around the world.

The costs are many: when allegations of harassment or a poisoned environment occur there can be low morale, high legal fees, lost time, poor public image, and a workplace that pits some employees against others. Workplaces where women are not treated with respect and fairness lead to absenteeism, poor performance, and high turnover.

Unearthing the causes of these problems requires more than policy or a complaints procedure. It requires employees to understand attitudes and behaviors that lead to unlawful, disruptive, or unwelcome behavior.

In Gender Sensitivity Coaching for Men, Dr. Kaufman marshals an exciting combination of talents as an educator, workshop leader, advisor, and counselor to do something that is unique in North America or Europe: he helps men look at sexual harassment in the context of men's own assumptions about themselves and their relations with women. The result is greater empathy, self-knowledge and a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue. This work is carried out one-on-one with men who have been found responsible for harassing behavior. It is also conducted one-on-one or with small groups of managers or staff at all levels to prevent problems in the first place.

In Harassment Prevention/Strengthening the Workplace, Michael gives speeches and leads workshops to assists men and women to get beyond common misunderstanding.
